Our Top Five Oscars Red Carpet Looks

February 26, 2017 2 min read

oscars red carpet
Last night's Oscars fashion was every bit as refined as one would expect, and the glamour quotient was on overdrive... but, to be honest, it wasn't exactly groundbreaking. There wasn't as much fashion risk-taking as there has been in previous years, and there were very few surprises. In fact, the biggest surprise happened inside, when the Best Picture winner was wrongly announced as LaLa Land instead of the actual winner, Moonlight. Outside on the red carpet, our winners are the ones who took chances with their looks.

Best Glam Look: Priyanka Chopra in Ralph & Russo

Priyanka's Ralph & Russo dress was nothing short of fabulous. We adore the flat-front bodice, cut-out sides, and structured triangular motif fabric. It contemporary and fresh, and was one of the biggest winners last night.

Best Minimalist Look: Karlie Kloss in Stella McCartney

🎟 #Oscars A post shared by Karlie Kloss (@karliekloss) on
With its clean lines and clinging fabric, this Stella McCartney dress demanded nothing short of physique perfection and Karlie delivered. The asymmetrical sleeve/cape was modern, imaginative, and was the perfect nod to the model's sporty sensibilities.

Best Old School Glam Look: Kirsten Dunst in Vintage Christian Dior Couture

The Hidden Figures star looked incredible in a Dior Couture gown from 1952. Her loose updo and smoky eyes were the perfect slightly undone counterpoints to her structured gown. We adore that she opted for vintage on the red carpet, and would love to see that happen more often.

Best Classic Look: Viola Davis in Armani Prive

#ViolaDavis redefine el concepto de elegancia en este vestido #AlfombraRojaE! A post shared by E! Latin America (@eonlinelatino) on
One of our favorite screen talents, Viola Davis won Best Supporting Actress for Fences. Her bold and beautifully draped Armani Prive gown was on point, and her short side swept hair was a flawless finishing touch.

Best Couple: Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake

Opening medley performer Timberlake got the crowd moving at the start of the ceremony, and he cut a sharp figure in his black patterned tuxedo jacket with solid pants. Jessica Biel's KaufmanFranco dress was exquisite, and the matching cuff necklace was a fantastic finishing touch.   For a complete list of 89th Annual Oscar Winners, click here.     *Feature image courtesy of Wikimedia Commons user BDS2006
